It was a LONG day in the theatre. We arrived around 8:30am so the camera crew could get set up. They were prompt and efficient so we were taping by 10am. We started with close up shots for the TV commercials and then moved quickly into taping segments of the illusions that we want to feature. By lunch, we had taped all the talking segments and the levitation.

It was Cindy’s birthday (yes, she was working hard that day) so we had BIRTHDAY CAKE as a treat after lunch before hitting it hard again. The afternoon was filled with excitment as we started taping our newest illusion, Walking Through A Brick Wall. This turned out so well and the crew was blown away – even from less than 10 feet away! It’s going to be a great addition to the show. After The Wall, it was on to No Feet, Windshear, Split, Cube, and some cool camera shots with the Origami swords.

We saved The Tank for last, since I get really wet. By the time we got to this one, we were exhausted. The taping started off well…until I went under the water. A combination of things caused me to not get enough air before submerging my head. David worked quickly to padlock my neck to the bottom. Then the tank was padlocked closed before anyone realized that I was in a full state of panic – no air! Cindy and David kicked in fast and got me out without exposing the escape to the crew. FAST THINKING on their part! After a bit of a rest (and drying my hair), we started to tape again…and this time it went much better.

We did a lot of our personal videotaping for a “behind the scenes” segment on the next DVD. We also got some really great footage of the Brick Wall for a segment on the “anatomy of an illusion.” I hope to post some of the taping footage soon as a part of that ever-coming video blog I keep saying I’m going to get up and running!
